Hi! My name is Gary Williams and I would like to thank you for visiting
The Laser Shoppe & Art Glass Studio. I am a retired United States Army
Officer and have been in the custom engraving and Glass Art business
since 1999. I have attended numerous sand carving workshops over the
years and have many years of experience in this field of art. Sand Carved
Glass Art, when done by a competent artisan, is extremely beautiful and
long lasting. I tell my clients that if the design they desire can be drawn,
then it can be etched or carved into glass.
The Laser Shoppe offers most engraving services found in a typical
engraving businesses like Awards or Trophy Stores, with one major
exception. That exception being Sand Carved Art Glass. Gary offers
customized services ranging from etched photographs to custom
Architectural glass etching and Glass Art.
Gary specializes in the artistic side of sand carving. Sand Carving is broken
down into three categories : surface etching, shading, and multi-stage
carving.
Surface etching is the simplest and least expensive form of sand carving.
This type of etching gives a solid frosting affect to the glass. This is an
excellent method of adding privacy to ones home or office because it is
totally opaque when covering the entire surface of the glass. It also allows
for a multitude of designs that will fit everyone's wants and desires.
The next step up is Shading. Shading is much more difficult to achieve and
is much more expensive and time consuming than surface etching. Shading
is accomplished by varying the amount of air and abrasive to give the
design a more realistic and three dimensional look. If done correctly,
shading is absolutely beautiful. As in Surface Etching, Shading has
unlimited possibilities for the home or office.
The last category of sand carving is called Multi-Stage sand carving. This is
the most time consuming and expensive of the three processes. Large
amounts of glass will be carved out of the design in order to give the
finished artwork a very nice three dimensional look. This very specialized
form of glass carving takes a great amount of skill and years of practice to
perfect. When completed, mult-stage sand carved glass is art in its finest
form.
Gary prides himself on his ability to tackle the jobs that other glass artists
can't do.
I believe that the only person who really understands exactly what our
clients needs are is the client themselves. Therefore, I feel it is extremely
important that I provide individualized attention to my clients in order to
